Laraine Day (October 13, 1920 – November 10, 2007) was an American actress and a former MGM contract star. Born La Raine Johnson in Roosevelt, Utah, to an affluent Mormon family, she later moved to California where she began her acting career with the Long Beach Players. She was a 1938 graduate of Polytechnic High School in Long Beach, California. In 1937, Day debuted onscreen in a bit part in Stella Dallas. Shortly afterwards, she won lead roles in several George O'Brien westerns at RKO, in which she was billed as "Laraine Hays" and then "Laraine Johnson". In 1939 she signed with MGM, and became popular and well-known (billed as Laraine Day) as "Nurse Mary Lamont", the title character's fiancee in a string of seven "Dr. Kildare" movies beginning with Calling Dr. Kildare (1939), with Lew Ayres in the title role. Her roles for other studios were often far more stimulating than those MGM gave her, including a prominent supporting part in the Irish melodrama My Son, My Son! (1940). She also starred in the Alfred Hitchcock thriller Foreign Correspondent (1940) with Joel McCrea, and the psychological mystery The Locket (1946) with Robert Mitchum, Brian Aherne, and Gene Raymond. In 1941 she was voted the number one "star of tomorrow" in Hollywood.

A Few Best Men Red Carpet Movie Premiere In Sydney, Australia A Few Best Men enjoyed its Sydney red carpet premiere earlier this evening at Bondi Junction's Event Cinema. In essence, it's a a comedy about a groom and his three best men who travel to the Australian outback for a wedding. The flick has numerous Sydney based media men and women tipping that this may be just the start of a reinvigoration of Olivia Newton-John's acting career, but its really too early to know for sure. Maybe O-N-J and her agent know something we don't. Twilight Eclipse hunk Xavier Samuel stars as the film's hapless bridegroom. British thespians Kris Marshall (Death At A Funeral) Kevin Bishop (Spanish Apartment), and Australian comedy star Rebel Wilson was there, as was Laura Brent (Chronicles of Narnia), Steve Le Marquand (Beneath Hill 60) and Tangle actor Tim Draxl. Even local MP Malcolm Turnbull and wife Lucy showed up in support. The flick, which was filmed in Sydney and the Blue Mountains, is hoped to be a return to form for Elliott, who has had mixed success since his 1994 smash hit The Adventures of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert. It's quite an unlikely acting platform for Newton-John, who many film industry commentators say her last decent film role was alongside John Travolta in Two of a Kind back in 1983. Elliott told the media that the Aussie singer/actress has fitted in well with the rest of the cast. "She's great. Everyone's coming together really well and she's really getting into it," he said.

The big news is the availability of a new seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission across the R8 range, with Audi finally deciding to do away with the clunky R tronic automated manual that plagued the previous model. A conventional six-speed manual is still available on some models, however. The other major update is the addition of a new range-topping R8 V10 plus model. At the front of all the new R8s we can see a revised headlight design, with the daytime running lights slicin through the center, and a slightly different overall shape. The grille remains very close to the current model, as do the side air dams and splitter, though these too are new. As an option, Audi installs a front splitter made of carbon fiber (standard on the R8 V10 plus). All R8 models also benefit from LED headlights as standard. The individual diodes for the high and low beams have been placed above and below the strip-shaped daytime running lights, which are specially actuated to serve as indicators. In addition, static turning lights are integrated in the headlights.

The girls then had to undergo a surprise test, where the judges wanted to check girls’ ability to be able to perform under pressure. It was Naima, who won the prize and was then sent on dinner with Serena Williams. After the photo shoot it was Brandt who was eliminated for her bad attitude. Next, the girls had to do their make up according to the theme that was given to them, but within a limited period of time. Noelle was the one who was sent home after this episode. The girls were given information about the business side of modeling, by none other than Tyra Banks. This time the photo shoot took place at an old gas station while being darned with cold rain and strong winds. Lluvy was sent home after the panel decided to eliminate her. Their next challenge included acting with a male model and for their photo shoot, they had to pose model for wonderbra. At the end the judges decided to eliminate two contestants, Rebecca and Tiffany, for their wrong attitude. Their next lesson was how not to conduct interviews. For their elimination round the girls were given the challenge to scorn a press conference for the America’s Next Top Model clothing line. Tatiana was the one who was sent home after this challenge. Posing as animals and showing their wild side was the next challenge for girls. The girls were then taken to South Africa., for the photo shoot. At the end it was Michelle who was eliminated by the judges. The girls were then made to visit some of the very important people in the fashion industry, who later commented on them. Their photo shoot this time was besides a waterfall which was somewhere deep inside a jungle in South Africa. Christina was the one who was sent home. Their next elimination challenge was a photo shoot where they had to pose while dancing with male models. At the end of this task Brittany was sent home. The final three then did an ad for CoverGirl and it was Keenyah who was asked to leave. Finally, with two more to go, Kahlen and Naima, their final task was an under water shoot. It was Naima who made it to the top, becoming the fourth winner of America’s Next Top Model.

Because Kim Kardashian and Lauren Conrad need even more exposure the fashionistas will be joining the judge’s panel of America’s Next Top Model cycle 13. Lauren Conrad and Kim Kardashian will not appear on the same episode, with Conrad to appear September 16 and Kardashian to offer up her opinion October 21. America’s Next Top Model cycle 13 premieres September 9 on the CW.

Candice Swanepoel also shows off more of a bombshell look in the ad campaign, where she poses in just a lacy thong, holding a giant red lollipop in front of her chest. Her hair is given lots of body, with big barrel curls that hang suggestively around her bare shoulders. Again flushed cheeks are a feature of the makeup look, though a stronger pink is used. A matte fuchsia pink stains her lips, which is a much more kissable effect than an all-out red lip--an important factor on Valentine's Day. The key to this look, however, is the seductive eye makeup. A heavy liquid line is used on the top lid, winging out slightly in a cat eye, with a lighter line on the lower lashes. Very light neutral to pink tones are on the lid.
